In December 2015, The Gamer Formerly Known as Smite got together trusted announcer EmilyAster and a few of their other friends for a joyous, insane hour of fun and goofs. Now, five hundred episodes and four hundred players later, there are no signs that the excitement and laughter will subside any time soon. Let’s dive into the world of snails, bobcat deaths and hardcore retro gaming as we take a look at the rules to Arcade Pit!

Battle
The two teams—Yellow and Blue—are staked with 50 points to start the game. All four players take part in an opening video game challenge, with the winner earning 20 points and control of the board for their team.The BoardThe team in control moves the game's snail mascot around on a 5×4 game board. Some spaces are helpful; others make good window dressing, but award nothing.

THE EVENTS
Except for Test Your Smight and the Goal, every space reveal is immediately followed by a spin of the wheel. Here is a description of each of the wheel events, plus Test Your Smight and the Final Battle.

GameblerThere are four Gamebler spaces on the wheel. Six video game choices are presented to the team in control, each with a point value from 20–50 points, with rare and very rare challenges receiving higher values. The team selects one game, and one player from the team must complete the challenge to win the points. There is no penalty for failing the challenge. Completing a bonus condition, available in some challenges, adds 10 points, and completing higher-difficulty (level 4 or 5) challenges adds 5 or 10 points. Control of the board then passes to the other team.

QuizzlerThere are four Quizzler spaces on the wheel. A board with the names of twelve video games are shown; the team picks a video game and a question about the game is asked. A correct answer is worth 15 points, with no penalty for an incorrect answer. Two questions are played. Control of the board then passes to the other team.

Quizzler
Blitz
There are two Quizzler Blitz spaces on the wheel. Five questions of easier difficulty, regardless of game, are posed to the team in control. The team has 15 seconds to answer each question for 5 points apiece. Correctly answering all five awards a bonus 5 points for a total of 30 points altogether. Control of the board then passes to the other team.

Sound TestThere are two Sound Test spaces on the wheel. A sound clip from a video game is played. Identifying the exact game is worth 30 points; a close guess (at Smight's discretion), such as identifying the series, is worth 15 points. The other team may steal if the guess is completely wrong. Control of the board then passes to the other team.

ScreencrapThere are three Screencrap spaces on the wheel. Three still images from video games are presented to the team in control; correctly identifying a game (or a close guess) is worth 10 points each. After 45 seconds, any unidentified images are offered to the other team, with one guess only for each. Control of the board then passes to the other team.

VG HustleThere are two VG Hustle spaces on the wheel. The team in control chooses a game from the Gamebler board, either to play by themselves (under Gamebler rules; see above) or for their opponents. If their opponents are challenged, the team in control also chooses who has to play the game. If challenged, the opponents lose 20 points to the challenging team if they fail; if they succeed, no change of score takes place (although bonuses for difficulty and bonus conditions still apply and are added if they are met). Regardless of the result, control of the board then passes to the other team.

Team BattleThere are three Team Battle spaces on the wheel. The team in control selects from three games, and one player from each team plays the challenge. The winner earns 20 points and control of the board for their team.

Grab BagThere are two Grab Bag spaces on the wheel. A video game challenge is presented to the team in control for one player to attempt; a successful attempt earns 20 points and the right for the other player on the team to play a challenge of their own for an additional 20 points. Control of the board then passes to the other team.

Relay RaceThere is one wide-width Relay Race space on the wheel. All four players take part. One player from each team must fulfill a challenge from one game; once complete, the other player from their team, given a different challenge, must finish theirs. Prior to the race, the team in control may swap either game if they choose. If the first challenge is not completed within three minutes, the second player can start anyway. Completing the race earns 30 points and control of the board for their team.

A.I. ArenaThere is one wide-width A.I. Arena space on the wheel. A game is set up so only computer players take part—usually a fighting or sports game. Both teams, starting with the team in control, select which player or team will win the A.I. match. The winner earns 30 points and control of the board for their team.

DrawbageThere are two Drawbage spaces on the wheel. One player from the team in control is delegated as an artist and must draw a prompt for their teammate to identify within 90 seconds. A tone is sounded if any part of the prompt is identified, to help lead the guesser to the correct answer. A correct answer is worth 20 points. If the guesser cannot identify the prompt, their opponents may try to answer. Control of the board then passes to the other team.

Palette BoxThere is one wide-width Palette Box space on the wheel. All four players, secretly assigned a color (red, green, yellow and blue), are given the same prompt and are given two minutes to draw (or effectively convey the prompt) as best as they can. People in Twitch chat vote by posting the respective artist's color; a tally is kept on the screen. After two minutes, the artists are asked to sign their drawings; first place earns 30 points and control of the board for their team, while second place scores 10 points.

Quad DrawThere is one wide-width Quad Draw space on the wheel. All four players are presented with an image divided into four pieces, usually of a video game character, and is assigned one of four quadrants. The player must try to duplicate (or effectively convey) their part of the image as best as they can. People in Twitch chat vote by posting the respective artist's color; a tally is kept on the screen. After two minutes, the artists are asked to sign their drawings; first place earns 30 points and control of the board for their team, while second place scores 10 points.

Test Your
Smight
Played after finding the Test Your Smight space on the board. One player from the team who found the Test Your Smight space on the board plays against Smight in one of three games. Each challenge has a handicap attached. Handicapping Smight and winning the challenge is worth 20 points, winning without a handicap is worth 30 points and handicapping the player and winning the challenge is worth 40 points. Control of the board then passes to the other team.
