He is a Kolkata (Calcutta) originated businessman and operates mainly in the information technology and jute industries. Mr. Sarda has built a conglomerate of diverse businesses with his vision and dedication, including the real estate, IT, and service sectors. He has led the organization to its success and is presently one of the most important industrial figures.


Career Path

When large business houses were abandoning the Jute industry due to extensive labor militancy, Mr. Ghanshyam Sarda anticipated a bright future for the eco-friendly, biodegradable material. He put in all his power to revive the jute mills, providing the much-required employment to Bengal's workforce, and reviving the dying industry.

Mr. Ghanshyam Sarda’s approach towards motivating the men working at the sick units was unique. He succeeded in reviving the ill companies across several sectors, from tea gardens to chemical industries and IT units.

He believed that knowledge is not power. It is only potential power. It begins transforming itself into actual power the moment you decisively act on it. Another mantra that he lived by is never allowing fear and doubt to short circuit your mind.

Alwar Jute Mill, Vision Comptech, Axsys Technologies, Agarpara Jute Mill are some that come under the Sarda Group. They also have a charitable trust called Chandrakala Devi Trust. The Sarda Group of Industries is scattered all across different parts of West Bengal, UP, Bihar, etc., and is headquartered in Kolkata. The Group has established several jute mills that together produce approx. more than 500 tons of jute products every day.

They are also the first business organization in India to set up professional training facilities for employees working in Jute mills. It was also made clear that more such training centers will be established. The workers would receive advance training in jute production and shop floor procedures and applications. They would be taught how to improve their employability in the Jute industry.

The recently established jute mill at Alwar, Rajasthan, has an estimated investment of Rs. 100 crores. Sarda Group has employed over 50,000 people and is one of the largest employers of West Bengal.

Tough competition from the neighboring country of Bangladesh in the jute sector can be witnessed. Therefore, apart from the already existing mills, the Group has set up plants in Bihar, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh. The Group is going to set up a mill in Rajasthan and is also planning to set up a unit in Tamil Nadu.

Apart from the industrial sector, Mr. Ghanshyam Sarda and the Group have contributed to the state in various forms of events, sports, and public affairs.

He has been honored for his work by many esteemed personalities of the state. He has been an advocate in initializing the refinement of the abilities of the factory workers.
The Sarda Group has been broadening its business and effectively implementing its strategies to form a PAN India business in jute goods manufacturing.
