WHEN TO VOTE:
Vote by Mail: For information on who qualifies for absentee voting visit here.
You can vote absentee in person from 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, beginning January 29, 2024, at the County Circuit Clerk’s office, through March 8, 2024. Mail-in absentee ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day (March 12, 2024) and must be received on or within five (5) business days of the election, or March 19, 2024, for it to count.
Early Voting: Early voting does not exist in Mississippi, check the information on in-person absentee voting above.
Election Day: Polling places open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

What is a primary election?
A primary election is where parties decide who to nominate as their candidate in the general election, which takes place in November.
Mississippi is an “open primary” state. You can choose the party’s ballot you wish to vote for. This decision does not register you with that party and it is a private decision.
In a primary election if a candidate does not win with the majority of the votes (50%+1) there will be a primary runoff election scheduled for a few weeks after the primary election date. The runoff election will have the top two candidates with the most votes to ensure that one of them receives the majority of the voters.
Any U.S. Citizens, at least 18 years old, who are residents of Mississippi are eligible to vote as long as they have not been convicted of a disenfranchising crime and have not been declared incompetent to vote by a court.

How can I prepare?
You can use one of the following IDs if they show your name and photo:
- Driver’s license from any state
- ID card issued by the US government or any state government
- US. Passport or passport card
- Employee ID card issued by the US government
- Mississippi firearms license
- Tribal ID, Military ID issued by the US government
- Student ID issued by an accredited university, college, community or junior college in Mississippi.
