600,000 packs of 'bubur lambuk' distributed nationwide under Gerak Rahmah programme, says Unity Minister

SIBU: A total of 600,000 packs of "bubur lambuk" have been distributed to the public this year nationwide under the Gerak Rahmah "Jom Masak Bubur Lambuk" programme, says Datuk Seri Aaron Ago Dagang.

“Last year, we distributed 400,000 packs of bubur lambuk nationwide. This year, 600,000 across the country. For Sibu, the number is already at 5,000,” the Unity Minister said on Saturday (March 23) at Sungkei Perdana here.

The Kanowit MP added that of the total, 12,000 packs were distributed across Sarawak.

“The programme was implemented to enhance social ties within the multiracial and multi-religious community,” he added.

Bakul Rahmah aid was also distributed throughout the programme.

Commenting on the Sungkei Perdana programme, which involved a mass breaking-of-fast at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang Phase 1 here, he said the number of participants was getting bigger each year.

About 20,000 participants took part in the programme this time against 10,000 previously.

“This year, we have a larger crowd compared to last year. The organisation of the programme has demonstrated the unity present in this country, involving participation from diverse communities comprising different races and religions,” he added.

Among those present was the initiator of the programme state Deputy Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Minister Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.
