Eight cars damaged in fire at KL service centre


KUALA LUMPUR: Eight cars have been severely damaged in a fire at a car service centre here on Sunday (Jan 7).

The City Fire and Rescue Department said that a distress call was received at 8.08am after a fire broke out at the service centre along Jalan Segambut Selatan.

"The responding team reached the scene at 8.16am, with the fire engulfing a factory housing a Proton car service centre. A total of eight cars that were in the building were 70% damaged.

"The fire saw no victims. Its cause is still under investigation," the statement said today.

The department added that the fire had also destroyed a filing cabinet room and a storeroom used to keep replacement parts.
