1. The competition is open to registered members of the Harbour View Branch Library and selected students from the invited schools in five (5) age groups – 6-8, 9-11, 12- 14, 15 - 17 and 18 and over.
2. Entrants must be members of the Harbour View Branch Library
3. Once a student or adult has selected a piece to participate, he/ she should practice repeatedly to ensure that delivery to the audience is smooth and lively.
4. Participants will be expected to have a hard copy of the selection from which they are to read, rather than to reciting the selection from memory.
5. Students selected to represent their school and registered adults must be available to participate on the day of the competition.
6. Judges will be looking for oral presentation, visual presentation, dramatic presentation, audience reception and written presentation. ( Please refer to Judges criteria)
7. Employees of the Jamaica Library Service and members of their households are not eligible to enter the competition.
8. Participants should adhere to the Jamaica Library Service dress code for users of the Library.
9. The winners will be selected and awarded on the day of the competition.
10. Entries for members of the branch library, after February 2, 2024 will be accepted at the discretion of the competition organizers.
11. Invited schools may substitute entrants due to emergencies. However, changes must be communicated to the contact persons before the day of the competition.
The decision of the Judges is final.
