KKB polls: 640 cops to be deployed, says Selangor deputy police chief

SHAH ALAM: A total of 640 police officers and personnel will be deployed for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk S. Sasikala Devi said the police are committed to ensure the safety and security of all involved in the by-election.

"Officers and personnel will be deployed during the duration of the by-election including on nomination day (April 27) and voting (May 11).

"The police force will be deployed for various duties including to ensure safety as well as for traffic control," she told a press conference at Selangor police headquarters on Wednesday (April 24).

DCP Sasikala said Hulu Selangor OCPD would meet with representatives of political parties soon to brief them on the dos and don'ts during campaigning.

"Among the issues that will be impressed upon political parties is not to raise matters relating to race, religion and royalty (3R) and applying for permits for campaigning," she said.

Early voting, which falls on May 7, would involve 625 police personnel and 238 military personnel, she added.

"We urge everyone involved to give their cooperation and refrain from inciting any sensitive issues," she said.
