30 years and the Taro has never once been updated, yet funding across the wider Hampshire county is enabling other leisure pools to live up to the expectations we live in today, not the 1990s. It is disheartening to see the deplorable state of our local pool, the Taro Leisure Centre. Over time, the facility has declined drastically, making it quite unattractive and resulting in a concern for local families. The pool's condition, riddled with rust, broken jacuzzi, and broken pumps has urged locals to look for alternatives as far as Guildford, diverting much-needed local patronage and investment away from our community.

A study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that swimming is the fourth most popular sports activity in the United Kingdom (UK). Yet, despite such prevalence and enthusiasm among the public, our local facility falls short of providing a safe and welcoming environment for swimmers. This disparity highlights the need for immediate change.

Addressing this, we must push for a comprehensive revamp of the Taro Leisure Center swimming pool. Not only will this improve the overall health and well-being of our community members, but it will also reinforce a sense of local unity. It will encourage the sport of swimming in a fresh, friendly, and healthier environment rather than an unsafe, unhygienic one.
