About the event

Join us for an evening of cultural exchange as we celebrate comics from Taiwan!

This event is perfect for cultural creatives and anyone interested in learning more about Taiwan‘s comic art.

Taiwan, a small island nation located in the Western Pacific and at the heart of East Asia, has long been a melting pot of diverse cultures and a hub for immigration throughout history. These rich heritages have witnessed a multitude of both markable and singular historical events, giving rise to peculiar and distinctive cultural phenomena. It is a wellspring of inspiration for many Taiwanese comic artists, known as T-Comic artists.

At Berlin Meets Taiwan Comic on March 19, Taiwanese artists Zhou Jianxin and Aliyo showcase works inspired by Taiwan’s historical events and Taoist religious culture. Zhou Jianxin's "Son of Formosa" is the first illustrated biographic depicting Taiwanese political victims. Aliyo's "The Demon Cat" blends elements of Taiwanese Taoism and common folk beliefs, narrating passionate battles under the structure of the classic Manga for Boys.

Signing, Artist Talk, Cosplay Costumes Display, and Taiwanese Local Dish & Tea Tasting, all in one evening! Don’t miss it!
