The Bank’s beginnings date back to 1967, when the Tanzanian government nationalized all financial organizations, including banks. The banking industry was changed in 1991, followed by another six years later in 1997.

Job Position: Cash Manager

The post holder will be responsible for delivering the overall growth of the Cash business. This covers the implementation of acquisition, retention, and expansion strategies for the commercial and SME segments.

Job Description.​

  • Driving Business Development and Growth – 40 percent
  • Drive the digital agenda for SMEs and commercial clients in order to increase scalability, particularly in terms of customer acquisition and transaction convenience.
  • Make important operational and investment choices for the Cash unit, particularly regarding collections and payment mechanisms.
  • Generate, assess, and provide Cash recommendations to the Head of Transactional Banking, as well as to in-country and RBB leadership, as appropriate.
  • Monitor and ensure that the Key Performance Indicators for Cash are met.
  • Develop an effective strategy, business model, and customer value proposition that focuses on
  • establishing and developing connections with both existing and new lucrative customers.
  • Cascade Cash strategies to the Cash team and all branches.
  • Monitor cash performance on a regular basis to ensure that growth is achieved in all areas.
  • Understand the business factors and issues affecting Cash’s performance and handle them effectively.
  • Establish and embed the values, habits, and risk tolerance that will support the achievement of the Cash objectives.
  • Increase the team’s portfolio profitability by discovering new and current customer prospects, such as sales and product promotion campaigns.
  • Proactively research competition threats and opportunities in the team’s market and geographical location.
  • Collaborate with company bankers to provide seamless after-sales assistance for cash transactions.
  • Distribute regulatory updates from government authorities, Central Bank of Tanzania, and Absa Group Limited about cash and its impact on business banking products. Perform additional activities as assigned.

Customer Service Management – 25%

  • Act as the Business Bank’s face to cash customers and build strong business networks.
  • Develop recommendations to expand the value of the Business Banking portfolio by identifying new markets and/or product opportunities, including prospective alliances.
  • Ensure cash service excellence by continuously reviewing the results of customer surveys (Le. NPS) against the target service quality requirements.
  • Collaborate across functions to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Meet with high-net-worth clients as needed to examine and consult on challenging scenarios.
  • Monitor the number of complaints and the quality of service. Analyze, seek, and then execute options for improvement.

People Management and Development: -25%

  • Create and present an annual resource and capacity plan for the Cash Unit.
  • Effective resource management/planning that reflects current and future company requirements, assuring the proper mix of numbers, skills, and experience, and actively seeking best-in-class personnel.
  • Create and develop a high-performing team by integrating performance management and coaching.
  • Maximize team performance by recognizing growth and training requirements and ensuring that coaching or training is delivered.
  • Drive staff development and engagement to create a high-performance environment and culture.
  • Implement excellent performance management for direct reports.
  • Create an empowering environment for direct reports by fostering individual ownership and initiative, and make sure they do the same for their employees.
  • In collaboration with HR, initiate HR processes for direct reports as needed, such as the disciplinary process, leave management, learning and development, talent identification, and so on.

Risk, Control, and Compliance Management – 10%

  • Ensure that all actions and obligations are completed in accordance with regulatory requirements, the Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework, and internal NBC Policies and Policy Standards.
  • Ensure that all controls for cash products are followed by all stakeholders within the bank.
  • Understand and manage role-specific risks and risk occurrences (incidents).
  • All mandatory training was completed by the deadline.
  • Collaborate with the Governance teams to determine what activities are required to close out the Audit findings and implement the necessary actions.

Education

Bachelor’s degree / advanced diploma or equivalent certification in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a similar discipline.

At least 5 years of experience in leadership and cash management

Qualifications

Analytical Thinking – Advanced (meets all requirements), Bachelor’s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas in Business, Commerce, and Management Studies. Commercial mentality – Senior (meets all standards), Customer Excellence – Service Management (Meets all standards) Digital familiarity (meets all standards), Experience in a similar workplace at the specialized level, Openness to change (Meets some of the characteristics but requires more improvement).
