“Poor Things” is a cinematic marvel that defies convention and plunges viewers into a world of absurdity, dark humor, and macabre intrigue. Adapted from Alasdair Gray’s 1992 novel by screenwriter Tony McNamara, this steampunk-retrofuturist Victorian tale is a visual feast.

The film introduces us to Bella Baxter, portrayed by the incomparable Emma Stone. Emma Stone delivers a performance that transcends mere acting. Her portrayal of Bella is hilarious, poignant, and haunting. Lanthimos’s direction, with its monochrome shots and fish-eye lenses, adds to the film’s otherworldly allure.
