Good coffee
Good coffee for the price. Can't go wrong.
Strong and rich!
Makes a lovely strong, dark, intense coffee. it's on par with Ocado's French roast which I slightly prefer just because it's cheaper. The M&S bean is probably a little healthier for your machine as the beans are less oily. Great cup of coffee if you like a strong rich roasted bean!
Unpleasant
Bought out of interest to compare with Waitrose own brand French Style (a particular favourite), these are the only beans we have ever tried that make coffee we have found actually unpleasant to drink - very strong (which we normally like) but with a strange aroma and taste vaguely reminiscent of Bovril. After two brews (French press) - the second just to confirm our first impression that the stuff was undrinkable - we have thrown away the remainder of the beans.
Spot on
M and S have really nailed it with their French Style coffee beans, up there with the best. Just one sip and I was transported back to a cafe in France. I love the intense flavour without any trace of over roasting. So many times I have been disappointed with store own brands but not this time, it hit the spot.
Good basic bean
A good bean for everyday coffee. Fairly strong and smooth.
Excellent value
I think these coffee beans represent extra value for money. I feel the No.5 Strength mark is about right and being a coffee perfectionist, this really hits the spot - especially for the price.
