The title quote was by Dr Titilope Ajay during a webinar on Feminist Research by Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI). Working in the area of violence, this quote has resonated with me in many ways. If you are researching marginalised or vulnerable populations, there are various ethical considerations to keep in mind (WHO guidelines are a good starting place). At the end of the day, participants are not mere 'subjects'. They are much more than 'data' we collect and that needs to reflect in our design, actions and writing.
