Jazz Camp for Girls is a 3-day summer camp which provides the opportunity for young female identifying musicians to experience jazz music and explore improvisation in a supportive environment. The camps are designed for musicians aged 11-15 with no or little experience of improvising, and aim to inspire them through a range of activities celebrating the work of women in the Jazz industry.
Improvised Music Company (IMC) invites girls aged 11-15 to meet like-minded young musicians exploring jazz music and improvisation together, making up songs and experimenting, putting your own spin on classics, playing in a group and having lots of fun learning from inspiring women in jazz!
In summer 2023 IMC presented the first Jazz Camp for Girls* in Ireland, in partnership with DCU's BA in Jazz & Contemporary Music Performance programme, and with the partner support of Fingal Arts Office.
In summer 2024, Jazz Camp for Girls will run in DCU again, and well as in the UCD School of Music and the Cork School of Music.

INSTRUMENTATION: We welcome all instruments - voice, flute, sax, guitar, bass, drums and other instruments not traditionally associated with jazz such as violin, harp etc.
TUTORS: The Tutors selected for the programme will be all Irish-based, professional performing musicians and dynamic educators, passionate about mentoring young people to explore their musical potential.

BACKGROUND of Jazz Camp for Girls:
Jazz Camp for Girls is an international educational programme supporting pre-teen and early teen girls in exploring improvisation and jazz music in a fun, supportive environment. It began in Denmark in 2014, with camps now running all across the country, as well as in Poland, Slovenia, UK, Sweden, Canada and Turkey!
