With a sense of renewed purpose and determination I return to this platform after a brief hiatus. In the past few months, we have experienced significant shifts, including the recent horrifying events in Israel and the concerning rise of antisemitism. Navigating these challenges hasn't been easy, and despite our continued efforts in hasbara (explaining nonstop and educating the masses about Israel), I doubt it's making the desired impact. Today the timeless message of "Am Yisrael Chai" - the people of Israel live - resonates more powerfully than ever. It's not only a song, it's a testament to our unwavering spirit and determination to overcome adversity. We refuse to be divided by fear or hatred, instead, we choose to reaffirm our resilience through solidarity, drawing strength from our shared values and experience. Let's leverage the power of our collective voices to drive positive change and create a world where bigotry has NO place. And if you made it through here, let me do some more hasbara, because that's what jewish people do. With tons of my people kidnapped and killed, it's been a challenge to move forward. But we have to. Such an honor to visit our local multipliers and local multiplying support members in So Cal these last several days. God is doing great things globally and locally through these incredible men and women. Most Missions Door missionaries here work with our "castaway" area of focus (think: marginalized): ethnic castaways (1-1.5 immigrants) that build missional freeways to their home countries with incredible community missions (we have global networks among Ethiopians, Cambodians, Chinese, Japanese, Liberians, etc.). Some are working with societal castaways (rural towns that many drive by with no church witness at all), and some with seasons of life castaways (poor, hungry, homeless, addicts, etc.). Some are resourcing leaders to not only to foster "a world full of healthy, local churches" (Missions Door vision), but also as a filter for identifying and training multiplier missionaries. One of our core values is "Love Changes Everything." As I visit these contexts, it's apparent how the love of Jesus is doing exactly that in society. All Missions Door (MD) ministries "Begin Where Others Are" (another MD core value). Our local multipliers (a multiplier is a very specific type of missionary leader), are also learning to know each other globally and connect efforts in remarkable ways. "We're Better Together" (another of our core values)! And that includes our many partners at Missions Door (such a privilege to sit down with one of our partners yesterday over a cup of coffee and dessert). Tomorrow, I'll teach and speak at the Pacific Venture Church Network Annual Meeting. When God's church is intentional and missional, she is unstoppable. At the end of the day, our task is simple, "Follow Jesus together. Anywhere. Everywhere." We really are better together! A globalized (or regionalized) world offers great opportunities. We must be wise, intentional, and committed to the Holy Spirit's work to move us and transform us in the process. #missionsdoor

Jews and Israel Debated on LinkedIn I promised to write about the genocide in Rwanda and I will do so at my next opportunity. But this was bothering me and I needed to discuss it. My hope is that, first of all, you read my posts. Second, that you understand that I am not simply writing as a Jewish advocate or a supporter of Israel. While I have worn many hats in my 59 years, writing was my passion in college and, only 20 years ago, did I start writing regularly and in earnest. While, I have not earned a regular income as a writer and lecturer, these are my strengths and I do them well. Jewish history is my area of expertise. But I am well-versed in other topics that have little to do with Jews or Judaism. LinkedIn is an employment networking site. The reason I post on this site is that I am hoping that someone recognizes my skills, knowledge, and love of the craft of writing and will hire me. It has not worked out that way, although I still try. My goal now is to find as many readers of my work as possible. While there are those who want to connect with me for friendship, it has not turned out well. I have been burned too many times. From now on, I ask you to connect with me if you are truly interested in my work and what I have to say. I don't want friends from this site. LinkedIn does warn us about not connecting with someone you don't know. I agree with that. The only people I have never met with whom I connect are professors, other writers, and those who are interested in the fields of Jewish history, the Holocaust, and Israel. I will post a comment when responding to a stranger with whom I agree or disagree. But that is about it. No friends. Only readers. As for Jewish topics on LinkedIn--especially Israel--I have mixed feelings. With heinous attacks on Israel by Hamas, I think it is appropriate to speak out on this site. Silence is Complicity. And I appreciate Jews from Israel who send beautiful photographs and good wishes for Shabbat and holidays. I also appreciate when the IDF or the Jewish Agency or Yad Vashem in Israel, reach out to us. But, in the end, this site is an employment networking site. While I am glad Jews network on this site--and I support writers on Jewish topics who want to be read like me and want to make a difference--I often find myself in a literary battleground over Jews and Israel. As for me, I appreciate the support for my work and I deal with the haters of Israel. But I post to be read and to learn from other writers and contributors. That I am a student of Jewish history and a proud Jew are important. But I would really like to find steady work. I will never retire and I have much to offer. That my writing is dominated by support for Jews and Israel is not just to influence hearts and minds. It is to be recognized. That is all I have to say. With the horrible events of the past month in Israel and the rise in anti-Semitism, I really wanted to write about the history of the genocide in Rwanda. I will.

Being Malawian in America: I am Malawian. But I don’t live in Malawi. I have lived in America for 20 years. It’s easy to dismiss me as someone who doesn’t know much about my own country, someone who is out of tune, or as some have famously dubbed me—“not Malawian enough.” Sure, I understand why these assumptions are more applicable to my life than simply enjoying me as a Malawian who lives elsewhere. ✍🏾✨ What people don’t realize is how tricky it is to embrace my Malawian identity without people only seeing the fact that I live in America. I am spoken to as if any matters that are Malawian are beyond me. And even if I chime into conversations about Malawi, I can feel the alienation—how I am removed from those qualified to have an opinion about Malawi. It’s tricky. ✍🏾✨ I don’t write this to complain but to share my experience since I am part of the African diaspora. There is a misconception that people like me have been too Americanized, that people like me are automatically rich (simply because of living abroad) and that we lack knowledge about what it means to be African. But dare I say it—learning multiple cultures gives me a better understanding of the world. I feel like I see home (Malawi) in a clearer way having been immersed in a different culture. In a way, America has opened my eyes to what I couldn’t see when I lived in Malawi. ✍🏾✨ I find myself being more aware, more grateful, and more sensitive to Malawian culture because I miss it. I want to know more because I’m surrounded by very little of it. My only ask for Malawians is to help me connect with Malawi without shaming me or making me feel stupid for living far away from it. Tell me what makes Malawi a beautiful place, tell me what I’m missing, tell me stories, proverbs, and fun facts that make Malawi the warm heart of Africa.🇲🇼✨

The hypocrisy and claim that people outside Africa hate Africans more than fellow Africans is not a complete truth. #Nigeria is the only country on earth 🌍, if you enter as a black, you will enjoy your stay without harassment or spot that you look like a Nigerian or not. The views on and about Africa could be seen outside and inside Africa. By this I mean those who are of African descent and those who are not of African descent. Africa has meant many things to many people. It is the level of sympathy, or antipathy, or scepticism, or cynicism they exhibit when they approach Africa issues that can distinguish those who talk or write about Africa. This is evident on how Immanuel Kant labelled the blacks. However, here are the eight categories of how people outside Africa view Africans. 1. The Afrifans - They have no patience with negativities about Africa, whether such festivities come from within or from outside. 2. The Africynics - They are the very opposite of Afrifan. They want glories from Africans. In their eyes, Africa is the land of noble, savage with its inhabitants in a state of unspeakable primitivism. They also speak or think dismissively and at times insulting about Africa. 3. The Afriphiles - Unlike in the case of Afrifans, their feelings for Africa are neither euphoric nor based on mood of the moment. They are the very opposite of Afriphobes. Characterized with deep and genuine love for Africa. 4. The Afriphobes - Every conception of Africa is fraught with danger signs and their expression of it is laden with slime, caveats and negative epithets. For them, everything bad emanates and happens in Africa. They are eternally nervous in regards to Africa. 5. The Afritourists - Are curious, wide-eyed, nature-starved visitors with no special commitment to Africa. They are idyllic in their conception of Africa. 6. The Afriskeptics - They are not quite sure about how to place Africa or except Africa. 7. The Afriapoilers - What they do is not spoil but despoil. Despoilers are, by definition greedy and ruthless, and their primary interest in Africa is lucre. For them Africa is suitable as a dumping ground, testing ground and center for cheap labour. 8. The Africlowns - They are analogous to circus clowns. They portray Africa as a pack of clowns and political governance as a circus piece. They are unreasonable simplistic and almost idiotic in their representation of Africa. Cf - Izu M. Onyeocha, Africa: The Country, the Concept and the Horizon. Thus, when building the gateway into and out of Africa or connecting outside Africa, it's essential to have these at the back of your mind. Muslims praying in a church. Not in just any church but in the Cologne Cathedral, which was built from 1248 until 1880 and was the tallest building in Europe for nine years replaced by the Eifel Tower in Paris in 1889. The Cologne Cathedral is much more than any old sight in the city center for us in Cologne. As we like to say:"Home is where the Dom is" ❤️ This picture was taken on February 3, 1965, nearly 50 years ago. The month of Ramadan ended, which Muslims traditionally celebrate with a festive prayer.  In Cologne, however, there was still no mosque for the almost 2,000 "guest workers" from Turkey, nor any other suitable premises for several hundred people. The Cologne Cathedral Chapter therefore made space available in the north aisle of the cathedral. The imam thanked the host Catholics for their fraternely gesture and, at the end of his preach, he had money collected for the restoration of the cathedral. A beautiful gesture that shows how living well together can succeed. Why post this on Linkedin? At the end of the day it's a "professional" social media plattform, which reminds me of Facebook in 2012, just a little more eloquent. 😁 As with the arise of these plattforms societies are more divided by political, religious, economically and other beliefs. It is also our responsibility not to give the reason only to the "toxic algoritmhs". Moreover it is in our power to engage with the content which unify us as human beings. ✌🏻 #Ramadan #Diversity
