No indication money for NGO channelled back to individual in PM's Dept, says Azam

KUALA LUMPUR: There is no indication that the money allocated for a non-governmental organisation (NGO) has been channelled back to certain individuals in the Prime Minister's Department as alleged by certain parties, says Tan Sri Azam Baki (pic).

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief refuted the serious claims made by social media activist Ratu Naga that certain individuals in the PMO had received kickbacks based on the money received by an NGO.

"Based on our investigation as well as from the feedback from our investigators, it shows that there are no indications or leads to show that money was channelled back to certain individuals from the PM's Department," he said.

Azam told reporters this after attending the 10th Certified Integrity Officer Programme Convocation Ceremony at Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTC) Thursday (Feb 22).

On Feb 16, after finding herself the subject of an MACC investigation, pro-Perikatan Nasional social media personality Ratu Naga claimed that the MACC should have called up Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin instead as she has no links to him

Shamsul Iskandar is the senior political secretary to the Prime Minister.

"I have no links to him. Why do you want to link me to him considering that I am an only an activist on social media," said Ratu Naga, whose real name is Syatul Ema Abu Samah.

In the video, Ratu Naga said she initially thought that the MACC's raid on her house was connected to two reports she had lodged with them, the first on Jan 15 regarding Anwar and the second on Jan 8 on information from the leaked Pandora Papers on Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

"I later learnt I was being investigated for alleged links to the Prime Minister's political secretary," said Syarul Ema.

Syarul Ema also claimed that MACC officers did not say why she was being investigated and that she was not allowed access to her lawyer or her husband while being questioned at MACC headquarters.
