Five harmful substances

Beware of the five substances that is detrimental to health. These five substances might be found within or outside your home or rooms. Most of the harmful substances are in the contents of several processed food products, some medicines, beverages and household chemicals like pesticides, cleaners, and textile paints which are toxic and deadly. You better check your products before purchasing them, and dispose your expired food or household products, check and keep them in the safe and enclosed cabinets or cupboards to keep them away from children and pets. Below is the list of five examples of dangerous substances that you should remember.

1. Rugby solvent

Rugby is a glue or solvent that was used to stick broken soles or heels of shoes, toys, woods, and to adhere wallpapers on wall, cabinets, and other common materials found at school, offices, and industrialized premises. It has a strong scent . High exposure to this solvent can lead to poisoning that can affect the function of the brain, heart, stomach, and other vital organs of the body. It can affect the development of the brain, leading to neurologic disorders or extreme mental retardation as observed from children, and younger individuals.

2. Nicotine

Nicotine is a compound found in cigarettes, vapors, tobacco, and other chemical products. It is a toxic substance that can alter the neurologic function. An increased levels of nicotine in the blood is detrimental to the liver. It can induce hepatotoxicity that will result to impaired liver function. Thus, damage and liver failure ensue.

3. Pesticides

Pesticides are used to keep away the pests from spoiling or destroying your plants, household materials, or products, inhabiting the corners, or concealed areas of your kitchen, and other vulnerable locations at your house or workplace. Its toxic chemical contents are not only poisonous to insects and other animals but also to humans. Ingestion or inhalation of the chemical substances from pesticides affect the function of your brain and lungs. Therefore, to prevent yourself and your loved ones from exposure to pesticides, follow the instructions of the product label and your local health institution regarding safe keeping, appropriate use of products, and treatment for pesticide poisoning to prevent death and subsequent complications.

4. Opioids

A medicinal product that is known to relieve pain and utilized as a palliative medicine for cancer is opioid. It is a popular analgesic drug used in the clinical, hospital, or home setting for pain relief. Though opioids' analgesic effect is proven effective, it has lethal adverse effects compromising the health of a patient after overdosing the drug. At a toxic level, it can cause sedative effects, constipation, impaired respiration, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and addiction.

5. Mercury

Mercury is a heavy metal discovered and procured underneath the soil. Some fish products is contaminated by the compounds of Mercury due to the industrialized environment that pollute the water. The toxicity of mercury depends on the amount acquired. It affects the brain, heart and lungs function. The People who are heavily exposed to this heavy metal may acquire neurologic disorders and pulmonary diseases.
