New Post: Devcon VI Scholars: Growing the Infinite Garden - The Ethereum Foundation (EF) exists to help the Ethereum ecosystem thrive, and there are still many discoveries to be made about what Ethereum can do for the world. That's why we support individuals that have the potential to unlock parts of Ethereum's story that are still unwritten. The Devcon Scholars Program provided support to make Devcon more accessible for 50 individuals whom we believed to have the potential to make a positive impact on Ethereum and its community, but who were unable to attend without financial assistance. The Program We chose individuals whose presence would enrich Devcon and the ecosystem. Scholars were selected based on their previous experience and their vision for contributing to Ethereum. Scholars were provided with programming and resources to prepare them for Devcon, such as “Learning Sessions” with leaders in the Ethereum community. During Devcon, Scholars created their own experience by choosing the talks and events they wanted to attend, some of which you can learn more about below. Of the cohort, 50% were from Latin America. Additionally, 70% of Scholars attended the ETHBogota hackathon and many of them won prizes. Meet The Scholars Meet five of the Devcon Scholars and learn about their experience! Yasmin Yasmin is an economist with Peru’s Ministry of Education. She wants to create applications for web3 in the public sector. To Infinity and Beyond Our vision for the Devcon Scholars program was to plant new seeds in the Infinite Garden: to support builders contributing to the Ethereum ecosystem across geographies and disciplines. We surveyed Scholars to collect feedback on the program, and following their time in Bogotá, participants now feel well-equipped to make valuable contributions to Ethereum and its future. New Post: Ethereum Protocol Fellowship – Fourth Cohort Applications Are Open! - TL;DR: Greetings, Ethereum community! We are excited to announce that the application period for the fourth cohort of the Ethereum Protocol Fellowship (EPF) is officially open! The EPF is an initiative aimed at supporting the development of Ethereum's core protocol by providing a pathway for aspiring protocol contributors to gain the experience needed to make meaningful contributions. This program is specifically tailored toward developers and researchers who have an unyielding passion for Ethereum, its community, and the possibilities of decentralized technology. In each cohort, we seek to assemble a diverse group of fellows who will work to advance Ethereum's technology during the four month fellowship. This includes everything from the development of client implementations, testing and specifications, and participating in the latest core protocol research. The program provides fellows with a unique opportunity to collaborate with other talented individuals, to engage with current Ethereum core developers and fellowship peers, and to make a significant impact on the Ethereum ecosystem. Whether you're a seasoned developer in the blockchain space, a promising computer science student, or a researcher with an interest in cryptography and economics, we encourage you to apply! I am eager to share my journey over the past year as I commenced my Post Graduate Studies in #blockchain Development at George Brown College started in January 2023. 1. January - Foundations and Exploration Began with a practical blockchain course, exploring applications in #healthcare, #supplychain, #agriculture, #realestate, #banking, #insurance, #law and IoT. 2. February - Smart Contracts and Solidity Basics I delved into writing smart contracts, mastering Solidity basics, and implementing various use cases, laying the groundwork for technical skills. 3. March - Web3 Technologies and Networking Introduced to Web3 front-end and back-end technologies using Ether.js and Web3.js. Attended my first Bitcoin Bay #meetup, initiating active participation in #networking events. 4. April - Full Stack Development and Ethical Considerations Integrated front-end and back-end into full-stack applications. Immersed in ethical, legal, privacy, and security aspects of blockchain. 5. May - Content Creation and Semester Conclusion Initiated documenting #web3 insights on LinkedIn. Concluded the first semester with a course in business and software design patterns. 6. June - Advanced Technologies and Real-world Applications Explored advanced blockchain tech in the second semester. Attended the after party of #collisionconference. 7. July - Enterprise Blockchain Development and IEEE Involvement Uncovered the Enterprise Blockchain Development, attended the 1st Google Developers conference, and started as a student volunteer for #ieee Blockchain Toronto. 8. August - Capstone Project and Event Organization Implemented the Capstone project in #cardano blockchain, presented the whitepaper for the system. Organized the 1st IEEE Blockchain Toronto event initiating the Crypto Week Toronto, and The Futurist Blockchain #conference. 9. September - Co-op Term Kick-off and Web3 Event Started the co-op term at blockchain startup at Dandelion Network. Attended the Web3 book publishing event by Alex Tapscott. 10. October - Web3 Front-end Development Role and Google Developers Conference Transitioned into a web3 front-end developer role. Attended the 2nd #google Developers conference, focusing on AI and LLMs. 11. November - Microsoft Reactor Event - Women in #ai Volunteered at the Microsoft Reactor event - Women in AI at Microsoft headquarters, Toronto. 12. December - Year-end Networking and Internship Conclusion Concluded the year with festive networking events, Bitcoin Bay Christmas Party and La French Tech Toronto.
